Manual version: 1.4
Before You Start
Public Network Transporters uses a Second Life Experience for smooth travel and avatar-hiding effects. Allow the Experience on every parcel or region where you place a booth.
The system connects the transporter booths you own. You need at least two named booths before you can travel between them.
Each booth is Copy/Modify/No Transfer and has a land impact of 8. Do not remove, rename or replace its scripts.
Set Up a New Booth
- Rez the booth where you want visitors to arrive.
- Wait for the security setup complete message.
- Touch the ADMIN sign on the inside back panel.
- Choose Config, then Set Name.
- Enter a short, unique name such as Main Bridge.
- Use English letters, numbers and spaces only.
- Return to ADMIN and choose Update.
- Wait a few seconds for the registry-updated message.
- Repeat these steps for every booth.
- Touch GLASS on the front and test a trip.
The booth you are standing at does not appear in its own destination list. This is normal.
Use Set Name to change the name shown in GLASS. Renaming the physical object in Second Life's Edit window does not change its destination name.
How to Travel
- Touch GLASS on the front of the booth.
- Choose the number beside the destination you want.
- Accept the teleport or Experience permission if Second Life asks.
- Wait for the beam sequence to finish.
Use Next, Prev and Top to move through a longer destination list.
The transporter handles one person at a time. If it says busy, wait a few seconds and try again.
ADMIN Controls
The ADMIN sign is on the inside back panel. Only the owner and approved administrators can use it.
- Config — change the booth name, optional category, Instant Mode or administrators.
- Update — send the booth's current name, position and settings to the network.
- Access Mode — choose Public, Private or Group use.
- Remove Old — remove a booth from your network.
- Color — change the beam colour, light and PBR emissives.
- SFX — choose one of ten built-in beam sounds or add a custom sound UUID.
- Test Beam — test the effects without travelling.
- Close — close the menu.
Choose Who Can Use It
Open ADMIN, then Access Mode, and choose:
- Public — anyone may use and see the booth.
- Private — only the owner and approved administrators may use or see it in destination lists.
- Group — the owner, administrators and avatars using the booth's active group may use it.
For Group mode, set the booth object to the group you want to allow.
Instant Mode
Instant Mode sends visitors directly to one chosen booth without showing the normal destination list. A visitor can touch GLASS or step onto the pad to begin the trip.
- Open ADMIN, Config, then Instant Mode.
- Choose Pick Target.
- Choose the destination.
The owner and administrators can still open the full destination list.
To stop Instant Mode, open ADMIN, Config, Instant Mode, then choose Turn Off.
Add an Administrator
- Open ADMIN, Config, Manage Admins, then Add Admin.
- Choose All Booths or This Booth.
- Paste the avatar's UUID.
Use All Booths when the administrator should manage every transporter you own. Use This Booth when they should manage only the current booth.
You can also add administrators through the notecard named exactly config. Paste one avatar UUID per line between the START and STOP markers, then save the notecard. Do not use display names, and do not add the owner.
Choose a Beam Sound
- Open ADMIN, then SFX.
- Choose a number from the ten built-in sounds.
- Use Test Beam to hear and check the selection.
The built-in choices are Discovery, Klingon, Romulan, Voyager, Kelvin, Federation, Ferengi, TNG, Beyond and Enterprise. Beyond is the default.
For your own sound:
- Open ADMIN, SFX, then Custom SFX.
- Paste one valid Second Life sound UUID.
- Use Test Beam.
The selected sound is saved for that transporter.
Change the Beam Colour
- Open ADMIN, then Color.
- Choose a preset.
- Use Test Beam.
The preset changes the beam colour, transporter light and PBR emissive surfaces together.
Move or Copy a Booth
- Moving a booth with the Edit tools updates its landing position automatically.
- Taking a booth into inventory and re-rezzing it keeps its settings and updates its new position.
- A newly copied booth receives its own identity. Give it a unique name and choose ADMIN, then Update.
- A booth given to a new owner starts fresh and completes its security setup automatically.
- After moving a booth, allow up to 45 seconds for its new position to reach the network.
- After dragging a copy from a live booth, allow up to 90 seconds for the original and copy to receive separate identities.
- A booth deleted without Remove Old disappears from the network automatically after about 24 hours.
For the quickest setup, rez a fresh booth from the boxed product instead of dragging a copy from a live booth.
Remove a Booth
Open ADMIN, then Remove Old.
- Choose This Booth to remove the booth you are using.
- Choose a numbered booth to remove another destination.
- Read the booth name in the warning, then choose REMOVE.
Removing This Booth deletes that booth. Removing a booth in another region clears it from the destination list, but you must delete the physical object yourself.
Quick Troubleshooting
No destinations are showing
Make sure at least two booths have different names and that you chose Update on each one.
GLASS does nothing
Wait a few seconds after rezzing. Check that scripts and the transporter Experience are allowed on the land. If you dragged a copy from a live booth, allow up to 90 seconds for copy detection.
Teleport does not start
Try again and accept the Second Life teleport or Experience permission.
A custom sound does not play
Open ADMIN, SFX, Custom SFX and paste the complete sound UUID again. Then use Test Beam.
The booth says busy
Wait for the current user or beam sequence to finish.
Support
Send the booth name, region name, what you clicked and the exact message shown in nearby chat. Include a screenshot when possible.
