Vortech Quantum Leap Ziggy HUD V3.2
Setup, daily use, controls, troubleshooting, and included interactive examples.
Detailed menu behavior and troubleshooting are below.
Quick Start
- Unbox the product on land where you can rez objects.
- Add the Quantum Leap HUD to your screen.
- Add the Ziggy handlink to your avatar.
- Accept the requests to teleport and animate your avatar.
- Add the attached imaging chamber if you want a no-rez travel option.
- Put one or more landmarks in the HUD contents.
- Touch the HUD, choose Landmarks, and select a numbered destination.
- Walk through the rezzed doorway, or touch the attached chamber, to begin travel.
What to Wear
The main product uses separate wearable parts:
- Quantum Leap HUD: provides menus, destination selection, teleport controls, and effects.
- Ziggy handlink: provides the visible Ziggy prop, mission readouts, sounds, lights, and hand or pocket modes.
- Attached imaging chamber: optional no-rez doorway used when a parcel does not allow objects to be rezzed.
Add the HUD and Ziggy for normal use. Add the attached chamber only when you want its no-rez option available.
Permission Requests
The HUD needs permission to teleport and animate your avatar. It also requests control permission so it can continue responding on some parcels where scripts are restricted.
Select Yes when the requests appear. If the HUD reports that permissions were not granted, detach and re-add it, then accept the requests.
Adding Landmarks
The landmark library reads Second Life landmarks stored inside the HUD.
- Make a backup copy of the HUD before editing its contents.
- Wear the HUD, right-click it, and choose Edit.
- Open the Contents tab.
- Drag your landmarks into the HUD contents.
- Wait several seconds for the HUD to reload the landmark list.
The HUD reports how many landmarks were loaded. If the count is corrupted, detach and re-add the HUD.
Landmark Travel
- Touch the HUD.
- Choose Landmarks.
- Use Prev, Top, and Next when the list has more than one page.
- Choose the number beside the destination you want.
- Wait for the imaging chamber to open.
When using a rezzed chamber, walk through the doorway. When using the attached chamber, touch the chamber to enter.
Do not begin travel until a destination has been selected. If no destination is set, the HUD reports that it cannot teleport yet.
Rezzed Chamber Mode
Rezzed mode creates the imaging-chamber door in-world and is the normal choice on land where you can rez.
- Choose TP Effects, then Rez On, to enable rezzed teleport effects.
- Choose Rez Open to open a rezzed doorway manually.
- Choose Close to close the current doorway.
The chamber is positioned from the floor beneath your avatar. Uneven floors, very high hover offsets, or nearby geometry may affect its placement.
Attached No-Rez Chamber
Use the attached chamber when the parcel does not permit rezzing.
- Add the attached imaging chamber to your avatar.
- Touch the HUD.
- Choose TP Effects, then Attachment.
- Choose a landmark.
- Touch the opened chamber to enter.
The chamber closes around the teleport sequence and returns to its small hidden attachment state afterward.
Turning Teleport Effects Off
Touch the HUD, choose TP Effects, then Rez Off. This disables both rezzed and attached chamber effects for ordinary teleports.
Teleporting to a Nearby Avatar
- Touch the HUD.
- Choose TP to Avatar.
- Use Prev, Top, and Next when the region list has more than one page.
- Choose the number beside the resident you want.
The selected resident must still be in the same region. If they leave before the teleport completes, the HUD reports that they are no longer available.
Ziggy Hand and Pocket Modes
Choose Pocket to move Ziggy from your hand to your pocket. While Ziggy is pocketed, touch the HUD and choose Unpocket to return Ziggy to your hand.
If the HUD cannot find Ziggy, confirm that the handlink is attached, then detach and re-add both the handlink and HUD.
Asking Ziggy
Choose Ask Ziggy to play the keypad sequence and receive a random mission readout from the Ziggy Database notecard.
Each nonblank notecard line is treated as one possible readout. Keep a backup before editing the notecard, and do not rename it: its inventory name must remain exactly Ziggy Database.
Ziggy Rap
Choose ZiggyRap for the included sound and animation sequence. Allow the current sequence to finish before starting another HUD action.
Troubleshooting
The HUD says no landmarks are loaded
Confirm that actual Second Life landmark assets are inside the HUD contents. Wait at least five seconds after changing the inventory, then detach and re-add the HUD.
The door does not rez
Confirm that the parcel permits object rezzing and that your land group is active when required. Use the attached chamber option on no-rez land.
The door appears too high or too low
Move to a flat floor, reduce unusual avatar hover offsets, and try again. Avoid standing directly over transparent floors or complex nearby geometry.
The attached chamber option is unavailable
Add the attached imaging chamber to your avatar. The HUD enables the option after it receives the attachment status.
Ziggy does not respond
Confirm that Ziggy and the HUD are both owned by you, attached, and in the same region. Detach and re-add Ziggy, then use Unpocket if necessary.
Ask Ziggy says there is nothing to say
Confirm that the notecard is named exactly Ziggy Database and contains at least one nonblank line.
My avatar remains hidden or an animation continues
Detach the HUD and wearable product pieces to stop their animations, then re-add them. Relog if another attachment or viewer state continues to override your avatar.
Teleport to Avatar faces the wrong direction
The destination placement depends on the selected avatar's position and rotation. Turn your avatar after arrival if needed and include this detail when contacting support.
